Limo / embroidery

The title circumscribes the image, defining its material and visual allusion.
The photo captures a microcosm of insect passages, the paths created by wedging into the clayey mud of the Bidente river.
The matter is the medium, the membrane through which to intercept something else, under the skin.

There is a contrast between the candid surfaces, that refer to the preciousness of embroidery, and the mud, excavated, moved, raised by insects and crawling creatures, forms of life commonly perceived as unpleasant.
In the images these references remain suspended in an ambiguous vision, at the limit of abstraction.

 

Il titolo (limo-ricamo) circoscrive l’immagine definendone la materia e l’allusione visiva.
La foto riprende un microcosmo di passaggi di insetti, i percorsi creati incuneandosi nella melma argillosa del fiume Bidente.
La materia è il tramite, la membrana, attraverso cui intercettare qualcos’altro, sottopelle.

C’è una contrapposizione tra le superfici candide che rimandano alla preziosità dei ricami, e il fango scavato, smosso, sollevato da insetti e creature striscianti, forme di vita comunemente percepite come sgradevoli.
Nelle immagini questi rimandi rimangono sospesi in una visione ambigua, al limite dell’astratto.
